Burwood Throughout Time: Harmony Day and Heritage Week 2021

Three different artists were commissioned by Burwood Council to develop artworks surrounding the theme Burwood Throughout Time. Asked to reference both Harmony Day and Heritage under this theme, each artist created a work specific to Burwood's changing demographics, vision and face.

Artist Statement:

“This year's 2021 Harmony day banners include a gathering of favourite pastime trinkets in a stone embellished candle, symbols of good luck and prosperity in the paper crane and lotus and lastly, iconic and most loved cuisines. These elements weaved together to celebrate a gathering of diverse backgrounds and cultures and the appreciation of everyday residents of Burwood today.”

CENTENARY OF ARMISTICE banner

On November 11th, 2018, Liverpool City Council put together a range of events throughout the city to commemorate 100 years since the end of World War One. I was commissioned to create an artwork for the ‘Centenary of Armistice, ’ which would be printed on two banner designs. The brief for the artwork was to illustrate the words ‘Liverpool Remembers’ as well as a remembrance poppy. The poppy was intended to symbolize all the brave men and women that served our country during 1914-1918.
