‘SAFE TRAVELS’ for bayside council

‘Safe Travels’, painted by Christina Huynh, is located at an upgraded public amenity in Mascot, commissioned by Bayside Council. Situated between Sydney’s corridor gateway, between Sydney Kingsford International and domestic airports, ‘Safe Travels’ is a light-hearted, sepia-toned aviation-themed work that draws upon antique and modern plane models, which dance between folded postcards as paper planes. The paper plane references travel and childhood totems that symbolise flight, memory and nostalgia. The flora featured throughout the designs include the endangered Magenta Lilly Pilly, Acacia Terminalis, and Acacia Pubescens (Downy Wattle).
