Illustrator in Residency at Pinerolo

I had the pleasure of being WestWord's Emerging Illustrator in Residence in November 2019 at Pinerolo, the Children's Book Cottage. It was a great experience having been mentored by Margaret Hamilton. Her guidance, knowledge and wisdom have helped me understand just how much work goes into the makings of a great picture book.

During my time at Pinerolo, I immersed myself in all the quirks of the cottage and discovered so many great pictures books. Original art of all mediums adorned the walls, and there was no shortage of smiles and even a few tears in reading. The experience of which reminds me of why I love illustration and picture books in the first place. I learned that picture books aren't just for children but for everyone.

During my stay, I had spent my time working on a large watercolour painting titled The Wedding of Nikki and Franco.
